via Balsam Brands press release

Balsam Brands, best-known for their flagship brand, Balsam Hill, the leading-brand of artificial Christmas trees, has announced that they will be opening an office in the historic Union Block building located in downtown Boise later this summer.  Prior to moving in, the company plans to update and restore the space with special details that will honor the history and unique characteristic of the building.

“We are excited to move downtown and be in the heart of this vibrant community,” says Thomas Harman, CEO of Balsam Brands. “This location is full of history and charm which was really important to us when evaluating locations. Our intent is to preserve this and create an environment that connects us with the community and inspires creativity of our team. As expressed through our leading brand Balsam Hill™, our company is built upon cherished traditions and inspiring extraordinary moments. We believe this location embodies the same sentiment and will be a natural fit.”

Since its inception in 2006, the designer and e-commerce retailer of premium home décor and consumer products has grown from a $3 million one-man company into a $100 million company with 120 employees worldwide.  The company has been named one of the nation’s fastest growing companies for five consecutive years by Inc. magazine. The new location in Boise allows Balsam Brands to relocate its current Treasure Valley operations in Meridian with additional growth in mind. The company hopes to attract and retain additional talent from both the Treasure Valley and from all over the world to the Boise location.

“Let me be the first to welcome Balsam Brands to downtown Boise,” said Boise Mayor David Bieter. “Our urban core’s vibrancy comes from the innovative employers who call it home and the talented employees who work for them, and Balsam Brands is a perfect fit.”

Currently, the approximately 17,000 square feet of downtown space is mixed between small offices, the Rose Room event venue, common space, and an overflow dining area. Remodeling of the space is expected to begin this spring with an anticipated move later this summer.

“The Rose Room will close as an event center and reopen as part of Balsam Brands work space,” notes Kenneth Howell, owner of the property. “For the past twenty years the Rose Room has hosted weddings, concerts, meetings and until recently, the Fettuccini Forum. Continuing a 117 year history, the ballroom has been a memorable gathering place for many Boiseans. Balsam Brands will bring a new chapter, new people, and new memories to this historic ballroom and building.  I am very excited to invite Balsam Brands to the space and I look forward to the continued legacy they will help create.”

Although details on what the remodel will entail are not final, Balsam Brands intends to work closely with existing tenants, neighbors, the city, and the building owner to ensure the space maintains its iconic staple in the downtown corridor.
