Healthcare Data Science Company Proskriptive Closes Seed Round
BOISE, Idaho, April 13, 2016
Proskriptive, a data science company that connects healthcare organizations with the analytics needed to deliver better patient care outcomes, announced today the closing of its seed round of funding providing $975,000 in capital. Proskriptive's seed round of funding was led by Epic Ventures of Salt Lake City, Michael Robinson, former Microsoft VP of Health and Life Sciences, as well as a host of angel investors from Boise, Tampa, St. Louis and Seattle. The investment brings Proskriptive's total funding since launching its predictive analytics technology for healthcare to $1.375 million.
"We're both thrilled and incredibly grateful to have attracted the support of such great investors," said Michael Hollenbeck, co-founder and CEO of Proskriptive. "The funding provided from this round of investment will allow us to accelerate the development of our technology as well as advance our sales growth."
"Proskriptive is a great fit for our portfolio." said Nick Efstratis of Epic Ventures, "As value based care gains momentum healthcare organizations are looking for simpler and more cost effective ways to capitalize on data science technologies to deliver tailored care. We're excited by Proskriptive's innovations in this area."
"This investment allows us to develop our IP and expand the current offering," added Justin Richie, Proskriptive CTO and co-founder. "Giving providers the ability to understand the full patient story will enable them to deliver more targeted interventions across the continuum of care and improve patient outcomes."
"Proskriptive's team brings an uncommon combination of healthcare and analytics expertise, which is evident in their Population Profiler," said Michael Robinson of Miro Ventures, "After many years working alongside technology vendors in healthcare, it's encouraging to see a company so focused on innovating in support of improved outcomes and value based care."
Proskriptive owes a considerable debt of gratitude to the support received from Boise area startup mentorship groups like Trailhead, Wayne Brown Institute, and Keiretsu Forum, as well as national healthtech programs like Healthbox. "The connections made while participating in these programs were vital to achieving our funding goals," said Hollenbeck.
"Proskriptive's momentum continues to impress us," added Bob Dean of Trolley House Ventures, "we are excited to support organizations that come out of the Boise startup scene, particularly when they have a great team and offer such a compelling solution."
This seed round of funding will further Proskriptive's mission of developing technology designed to promote "wellcare" by simplifying the way data science is applied to healthcare data. After a successful launch in April of 2014, Proskriptive has continued to acquire customers and gain momentum in the development of its flagship product, "Population Profiler". The company's technology applies machine learning capabilities to healthcare data in order to identify at risk patients and highlight tailored interventions that will maximize positive outcomes for the patient.
