Three Hotels Have Risen Two Stories in Downtown Boise

Hotel developer Obie partners has poured the concrete deck of its third floor for The Inn at 500 Capitol hotel project at Myrtle Street and Capitol Boulevard. It’s the first of three active downtown Boise hotel projects to reach that height.

The Residence Inn by Marriott project across Myrtle from Inn at 500 and Hyatt Place at 10thand Bannock streets are both on their second floors.

This is the first time Boise has had three simultaneous hotel construction projects. All started between September and early January, and all three, with a combined 449 rooms are expected to open in the first half of 2017.

New Hotels Complement Ongoing Growth and Interest in Downtown Boise

Boise is riding a tidal wave of interest that has not only fueled housing development but is impacting tourism and travel — best demonstrated by three new hotels rising up downtown.

Several factors are driving the development, including demand from convention-goers at the Boise Centre, which is currently undergoing a major expansion, as well as the greater number of businesses that now call Boise home, which has fueled travel and hotel stays from employees from other markets. Another factor is the desire by the national chains, or “flags,” such as Hyatt, that want to add properties in the downtown core where they haven’t previously had a presence.
